The short version
Open Source Tickets does not serve advertisements, does not sell your data, and does not collect your data for profit. Every piece of information we store exists solely to provide and maintain your account and the event ticketing service.
1. Who We Are
Open Source Tickets (“we”, “us”, “the Service”) is a free, open source event ticketing platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Service at opensourcetickets.com.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an organizer or staff account, we collect your email address, display name (optional), and a hashed version of your password. This information is used solely to authenticate you and provide access to your account.
Ticket requests
When a guest requests a ticket, we store their email address and a normalized version of it (used to enforce the one-ticket-per-email limit). This is used solely to issue, deliver, and validate the ticket for the specific event.
Event content
Event titles, descriptions, dates, venues, and banner images uploaded by organizers are stored in order to display and manage those events.
Authentication logs
For security purposes, we record sign-in and sign-up attempts along with the requesting IP address and browser user agent. These logs are used only to detect abuse (such as brute-force attacks) and are visible only to site administrators. They are not shared with third parties or used for advertising.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect exclusively to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Authenticate you when you sign in.
- Issue, send, and validate event tickets.
- Enforce per-event ticket limits and prevent duplicate requests.
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam, or unauthorized access.
- Send transactional emails (ticket delivery, email verification, invitations).
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, behavioral tracking, or any purpose beyond delivering the core ticketing service.
4. No Ads, No Data Sales, No Profit from Your Data
Open Source Tickets does not display advertisements. We do not sell, rent, license, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes. We do not build advertising profiles on you. We do not monetize your data in any way. Your information is used solely to operate the Service for you.
5. Third-Party Services
To operate the Service, we use the following third-party infrastructure providers. Data processed through these services is subject to their respective privacy policies:
- Google Firebase / Firestore — stores account records, ticket records, and event data. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — hosts the web application and may log request metadata (IP address, request path, timestamp) for operational purposes. Governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- PrivateEmail (Namecheap) — used to deliver transactional emails (ticket emails, verification links, invitations). Email addresses are transmitted to this service only for the purpose of delivery.
We do not integrate with social media platforms, advertising networks, or analytics services that track you across websites.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@opensourcetickets.com. Ticket records for past events may be retained for a reasonable period for operational record-keeping.
7. Security
We implement reasonable technical safeguards to protect your data, including server-side session management, hashed passwords, HTTPS-only access, rate limiting on authentication endpoints, and role-based access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@opensourcetickets.com.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@opensourcetickets.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
